Holy Thursday

Holy Thursday Today is the fifth day of Holy Week, also known as Maundy Thursday. The word Maundy comes from the Latin word mandatum, meaning "command." It refers to the instructions Jesus gave His disciples during the Last Supper. This is a deeply significant day for the Christian Church to remember and reflect upon. Here are the key events that took place on Maundy Thursday: 1. Preparation for the Passover (Matthew 26:17–19, Mark 14:12–16, Luke 22:7–13) The disciples prepare the place and the meal, following Jesus’ instructions. 2. Jesus and the Disciples Gather for the Passover Feast (Matthew 26:20, Mark 14:17, Luke 22:14–16, John 13:1) That evening, likely around 6 p.m., Jesus and the twelve disciples gathered in the upper room to celebrate the Passover. 3. Holy Wednesday

Holy Wednesday is the fourth day of Holy Week. It is also known as Spy Wednesday because it marks the day Judas Iscariot agreed to betray Jesus. Events Recorded in the Bible for Holy Wednesday: The Sanhedrin plots to kill Jesus (Matthew 26:1–5; Mark 14:1–2; Luke 22:1–2) Jesus is anointed at Bethany (Matthew 26:6–13; Mark 14:3–9) Judas agrees to betray Jesus (Matthew 26:14–16; Mark 14:10–11; Luke 22:3–6) The religious leaders saw Jesus as an increasing threat. HOLY TUESDAY

We are now on the third day of Holy Week — Holy Tuesday. On this day, several key events in the life and ministry of Jesus are recorded. Jesus once again traveled from Bethany to Jerusalem. Upon reaching the temple, He spent time teaching and engaging in deep conversations with the religious leaders, while also sharing powerful lessons with His followers. Here is a summary of the significant events and teachings from Holy Tuesday: --- 1. Dear Friends, Greetings to you all in the name of our gracious Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We have now entered the final week of Lent, which is known as Holy Week . In this blog series, we will explore the significance and foundational understanding of Holy Week. The Holy Week Holy Week is one of the most important observances in the Christian Church. Different churches have different traditions and ways of observing this sacred week. The formal observance of Holy Week began in the late third century . Holy Week commemorates a series of events that took place during the final seven days of Jesus Christ’s earthly ministry, leading up to His crucifixion. It begins with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem , which we remember as Palm Sunday , and it concludes with His crucifixion . Holy Monday

Today is Holy Monday, the second day of Holy Week. During Holy Week, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday are the days most widely remembered and observed by the Church and Christians. The other days often receive less attention. Additionally, the Gospels are not entirely clear about the exact order of events during these holy days, which has led to varying interpretations among scholars. Palm Sunday

Today is the first day of this Holy Week. We call it Palm Sunday, which is also called Passion Sunday. On this Sunday as a church, we used to go for a procession with palm leaves by singing Hosanna as a remembrance of Jesus's passionate entry to Jerusalem.  Events on Palm Sunday Events Reference Jesus Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem Mat 21:1–11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:29-44, John 12:12-19 Jesus looks around the Temple Mark 11:11 Jesus Returns to Bethany Mark 11:11 The above three events are recorded in the Bible, which happened on Palm Sunday.
